Louisiana launches it’s own Master Naturalist Program

Louisiana is home to a diverse number of ecosystems. There are bottomland hardwood and longleaf-pine forest, swamps, marshes, and coastal beaches.  If you wanted to acquire specialized knowledge about each of these areas it would take you a lot of time and resources… until now.

Louisiana has launched a Master Naturalist Program. The program requires 40 hours of combined field and classroom instruction and a certification exam that must be periodically renewed. There is also a $200 fee, and you must agree to volunteer somewhere for 20 hours to share what you’ve learned.

In the video slideshow below Dr. Aimée K. Thomas, biology professor at Loyola University New Orleans, explains the Louisiana Master Naturalist Program.
